2013 In Review

Time is a funny thing. I often find myself wishing things took less time, that progress was made faster, that circumstances would change simply by my effort and by sincerely willing it so. So it is nice, every so often, to take a moment and reflect on how far I’ve come. To keep in mind that I am exactly where I am suppose to be, and consider all of the change and growth I’ve experienced over the last year.

Here is my 2013, in review:

Started the year in my beloved Seattle, seeing live Theatre, learning to play the guitar, and enjoying the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

2013-1a
2013-1b
2013-1c

Fed myself creatively (when not on set) by making new jams and sewing new quilts (most of which I give away as gifts… it brings me double enjoyment!)

2013-2a
2013-2b

These are some of the industry books I’ve read this year, in addition to really learning to use imdbpro.com, castingabout.com, showfax.com, and actorsaccess.com (all excellent resources for anyone in the industry!).

2013-3b
2013-3c
2013-3d
2013-3a

Visited Los Angeles for the first time. Spent 6 weeks in town where I soaked up some sun, finally met Bonnie Gillespie and took class from her in person, wrote an article that was published on Actors’ Access, shot a web series, earned my SAG-AFTRA eligibility, and got to experience some of LA’s music scene.

2013-4a
2013-4b
2013-4c

Continued studying with my acting coach, Steven Anderson of Actorswork, in both weekend intensives and weekly classes. Participated in YouTube’s 1st ever Geek Week, as a result of my Harry Potter in 99 seconds videos.

2013-5a
2013-5b

Fed my soul with travels — hiking along the beach on the Olympic Peninsula where I saw starfish and a HUGE whale skeleton, climbing Mount St. Helens, and visiting Disney World and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter for a healthy dose of whimsy and magic.

2013-6a
2013-6b
2013-6c
2013-6d

Completed my first photo shoot with the talented Dawndra Budd.

2013-7a
2013-7b
2013-7c

Made the move to Los Angeles, where I walked in the LA AIDS Walk, got new headshots, auditioned for a national commercial, shot a USC film, and worked several days on The Mindy Project, Ground Floor, The Jersey Boys, and Mad Men (Christina Hendricks told me I looked fantastic *swoon*).

2013-8a
2013-8b
2013-8c

All in all, 2013 was a pretty exciting year. Sometimes I just need to remind myself how much things can change and move forward in one year!
